Sign Customiser powers USD $75m in global sign sales

Sign Customiser, an Australian-built software platform for the signage industry, says it has powered more than USD $75 million in merchant sales and processed more than 200,000 orders through its online design and quoting tools.

The Adelaide-based company sells software that lets sign shops offer self-serve product configuration and live pricing on their own websites. It targets a long-standing issue in signage sales: customers often request a quote for a bespoke item, then wait for a manual response. Many of those enquiries never turn into orders.

Rather than relying on email-based quoting, the platform embeds a customisation interface into a sign shop's existing online store. Customers adjust specifications and see pricing update in real time. They can then place an order and pay online, while the software generates production-ready order details for the shop.

Sign Customiser says it works with more than 700 sign shops across 100 countries and supports 22 currencies.

The company's figures point to higher-value transactions than a typical online shopping basket. It puts average order value at USD $347 and says the orders include commercial signage such as LED neon, vinyl lettering, dimensional signage and wayfinding.

Momentum

Sign Customiser reported that November 2025 was its biggest month, with merchants processing USD $2.6 million in orders through the platform. That was a 48% increase over October. Black Friday weekend accounted for USD $1.5 million in merchant orders.

The platform is designed around the operational reality of sign shops, where quoting and design work can consume substantial time. Many businesses still produce estimates by hand and rely on follow-up calls and emails. Sign Customiser positions its software as a way to move that work into a web-based workflow that runs continuously.

"Sign shops were spending half their week on quotes that went nowhere," said Matthew Attanasio, founder of Sign Customiser.

"Now their customers design, price, and pay for their own signs - and every order arrives production-ready. There's nothing to figure out; they just make it," Attanasio said.

How it works

Sign Customiser works as a widget that sign shops embed in their eCommerce storefronts. It integrates with Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and Etsy, and can connect to other platforms through an API, including custom-built websites.

For customers, the interface provides a design preview alongside a configuration menu. Buyers can upload a logo or a photo of an existing design they want reproduced, then select materials, dimensions, colours and backing options. Pricing updates in real time as they make changes.

For merchants, the software handles pricing logic across combinations of materials and options, including variables such as size, colour and installation accessories. This allows sign shops to accept orders without staff preparing individual quotes during business hours.

"Our merchants are selling signs in their sleep," Attanasio said. "Design, pricing, checkout, production files - all handled before anyone at the shop touches it. It is the difference between chasing leads and filling your production schedule."

Custom commerce

Online shopping is routine for standardised products, but configurable goods often still rely on manual sales processes. In sectors such as signage, printing, furniture and building materials, quote-request forms remain common. These workflows can introduce delays and increase the workload for small businesses.

Sign Customiser argues that combining a design tool, pricing engine and checkout can turn custom orders into a familiar eCommerce experience. It also points to its average order value as evidence that buyers will commit to higher-priced custom purchases online when they can clearly see the design and the cost.

Attanasio said the business has grown without venture capital backing. "We grew this entirely on revenue from day one," he said. "When your customers are small business owners, you learn to build what actually saves them time and money. Nobody in a sign shop cares about your pitch deck - they care whether the software helps them sell more signs with less effort."

Sign Customiser says it will keep expanding among sign shops on major eCommerce platforms, as well as on proprietary sites via its API.
