Shippit unveils AI-driven NowGo platform to boost last-mile delivery
Shippit has introduced NowGo by Shippit, an AI-powered delivery orchestration platform designed to enhance the efficiency and reliability of last-mile delivery operations for businesses managing complex logistics.
NowGo by Shippit has already been adopted by several high-profile Australian companies, including Reece, Mitre 10, Healius, News Corp, Bells Pure Ice, Couriers Please, and Aramex. The solution currently facilitates more than 30 million deliveries each year and supports thousands of drivers across the country.
Addressing industry challenges
Rising operational costs, driver shortages, and increased regulations have put pressure on businesses reliant on private or contracted delivery fleets. Shippit states that customers using NowGo have seen a 12% improvement in fleet efficiency and a 15% rise in fleet utilisation, alongside reductions in fuel consumption, driver downtime, and road kilometres.
NowGo by Shippit was developed on an AI-first foundation, following Shippit's acquisition of Premonition in 2022. Its proprietary algorithm, created by Australian engineers, distinguishes it as the only Australian-based last-mile delivery orchestration solution not relying on widely used third-party route optimisation services.
The platform is particularly suited to businesses with complex and highly regulated delivery requirements, such as those in trade supply, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, furniture retail, and food and beverage sectors. Existing users include companies that operate with significant logistical complexity and require high reliability in their delivery operations.
Real-time adaptability
According to Shippit, NowGo is built to manage and optimise deliveries under variable and often challenging conditions. The platform adapts instantly to unplanned events, such as natural disasters or sudden shifts in consumer demand and traffic conditions, aiming to maintain delivery reliability at all times.
Shippit intends for NowGo to shift the perspective on delivery operations from being a cost centre to becoming a driver of business growth for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer customers, as the role of delivery becomes increasingly critical in the eCommerce sector.
"The last mile has never been more competitive or had a greater impact on business' bottom line than today. While retailers have embraced outsourced carrier delivery, there's a vast market for last mile delivery run by in-house operated fleets," commented Rob Hango-Zada, Co-Founder and Joint-CEO of Shippit. "Incumbent solutions offer basic routing but don't flex with the needs of a business' workflow and can't handle specialised and unique requirements; from time- and temperature-sensitive pathology samples to time-critical materials for a construction project. "Today is the culmination of a long-established vision, and years of innovation, research and development since we acquired Premonition in 2022. Over the ensuing years, our Australian-based AI engineers have built something that we're very proud to launch to market. NowGo by Shippit. It's an incredibly important milestone for Shippit and initiates the next stage of our growth and broader strategy to dominate the local commerce space. As eCommerce reaches an inflection point, delivery networks are becoming denser and more localised - with delivery zones closer to stores and distribution centers. It's in this last-mile space that we see a significant opportunity to use our advanced orchestration technology to improve the speed, reliability, and flexibility of deliveries, and enable fleets to become a growth engine rather than a cost–centre."
Platform features
Key capabilities of NowGo by Shippit include rapid, real-time scenario planning, which allows dispatchers to optimise deliveries dynamically and respond immediately to changes in operating environments. The platform can process large quantities of routing data, covering a range of priorities and constraints - including delivery windows, vehicle types, and capacity - all within a single interface. This is intended to streamline dispatcher workflows and save time.
NowGo also offers a dedicated driver app, real-time tracking for customers, and in-depth performance analytics. The integrated communication and tracking tools are designed to minimise customer queries and reduce the number of undelivered parcels and time spent on site, which Shippit says contributes positively to overall business efficiency and profitability.
User perspectives
Mitre 10, one of NowGo's customers, credits the solution with transforming its delivery management. Julian Yule, Digital IT Projects Delivery Manager at Mitre 10, shared his viewpoint:
"Mitre 10's Truck Tracker gives our customers live delivery updates we can rely on. With NowGo powering it, we know exactly when materials will hit the site - no more downtime waiting around and fewer contacts to our busy store customer service teams. It's a game changer for our store dispatchers and drivers that currently manage in excess of 40,000 deliveries per month."
NowGo by Shippit is supported by a logistics and technology team of over 200 experts based in Australia, providing both a technical and operational foundation for customers seeking to navigate increasingly complex delivery demands.
Shippit says the introduction of NowGo forms a key part of its ongoing strategy to expand its role within the local commerce ecosystem and support both new and established customers seeking to improve their delivery operations under evolving market conditions.
