Worley teams up with Dell for secure AI innovation drive

Today

Worley has announced a collaboration with Dell Technologies to develop secure artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that aim to enhance innovation and support global talent resources.

The partnership focuses on establishing an AI Factory, a platform that supports Worley's procurement teams and engineers by using generative AI (GenAI) to streamline operations and improve project delivery times.

Specifically, the AI Factory will assist in reducing the time needed for technical evaluations of vendor bid documents from weeks to just hours. It will enable engineers to derive insights from past project data to accelerate design processes.

Worley employs approximately 50,000 staff across 45 countries, and the company works with customers globally to deliver sustainable energy sources.

The AI Factory initiative is designed to enhance operational efficiency and create new services for stakeholders while maintaining rigorous data privacy and intellectual property safeguards.

Anup Sharma, Group President of Worley Digital, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. "Our industry has decades of experience in solving large complex problems, including with AI and machine learning. Gen-AI, powered by Dell and NVIDIA, acts as a force multiplier, enabling Worley's experts to work at unprecedented scale and pace. We finally have the capability and talent to 'bend' first principles," Sharma said.

"This super-charges our response to the significant upswing in trillions of dollars of capital investment."

Arun Narayanan, Senior Vice President of Compute and Networking at Dell Technologies, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership.

"Leveraging the Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, Worley is forming a foundation for creating AI tools that accelerate its ability to help companies across the energy, chemicals and resources sectors transition toward a more sustainable future," Narayanan stated.

The AI Factory, supported by World Wide Technology (WWT), relies on a robust on-premises infrastructure comprising Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers with NVIDIA H100 GPUs for enhanced AI, machine learning, and deep learning abilities.

This configuration includes Dell PowerScale F710 storage for efficient data management and Dell AI Optimised Networking to support high-speed data transfers and scalability.

Additional components of the architecture include NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, which facilitates the development and deployment of generative AI pipelines, and Dell Rack Integration Services alongside NVIDIA Enterprise Support Services for comprehensive infrastructure support.

This AI infrastructure is intended to advance Worley's AI-driven design and automation capabilities, including AI-generated estimates and AI-enhanced supplier collaboration.

It supports the company's vision of a future aligned with sustainable energy transition, amidst a growing market focus on AI for operational improvement and project management advancement.
