Lamipak taps Blue Yonder for global supply chain view
Lamipak has selected supply chain software provider Blue Yonder to connect its global network of customers, suppliers and logistics partners through the Blue Yonder Network.
The aseptic packaging manufacturer plans to use the platform for end-to-end visibility across inventory, shipments and orders. It is also rolling out Blue Yonder Supply Chain Command Centre, which Blue Yonder describes as a control tower for supply chain monitoring and collaboration.
Founded in 2007, Lamipak makes aseptic packaging for food and beverage brands. It operates manufacturing sites in China and Indonesia and sells into more than 80 countries. Recent growth in customers and production volumes has increased the complexity of its cross-border supply chain.
Businesses with multi-country operations continue to face volatility in freight markets, lead times and capacity, while putting more emphasis on collaboration across suppliers and carriers. Software vendors have promoted control towers and connected networks as ways to speed decision-making and standardise data across partners.
Network visibility
Blue Yonder Network is designed to connect trading partners and synchronise planning and execution across an extended supply chain. For Lamipak, this means bringing customers, suppliers and carriers into one environment and using shared data to co-ordinate actions as conditions change.
The Supply Chain Command Centre adds real-time monitoring and event management. Blue Yonder says it can generate artificial intelligence-based recommendations and supports collaboration during exceptions such as delays, shortfalls or changing customer requirements.
Lamipak expects the implementation to provide a single view of inventory and in-transit shipments across its trading relationships. It also plans to use the platform to track demand shifts and changes in capacity and lead times.
Ricky Zhou, Project Manager at Lamipak, said the business needed a system that matches the scale of its operations across regions.
"Amid ongoing supply chain disruptions and instability, we needed a robust, scalable solution to effectively manage our rapid growth across regions while continuing to meet the evolving demands of our customers globally," said Ricky Zhou, Project Manager, Lamipak.
Lamipak also expects changes to its exception-management processes. It plans to receive risk and alert notifications when the system detects issues that could affect service levels or delivery schedules.
Operational focus
Aseptic packaging supply chains often have tight timing and quality requirements, along with long-distance transport and cross-border documentation. The sector depends on predictable deliveries of raw materials and stable outbound logistics aligned with food and beverage production schedules.
Lamipak wants to streamline operations and reduce costs through better co-ordination across its ecosystem. It also expects higher customer satisfaction through faster responses to disruptions and closer alignment between order demand and supply execution.
The company has also made sustainability a strategic priority, using responsibly sourced materials and investing in circular and low-impact initiatives. In the packaging sector, supply chain data platforms are increasingly used to track material flows and improve the quality of operational data shared between partners.
Blue Yonder has expanded its focus on network-based supply chain services as companies push for more consistent data exchange with external partners. The shift is driven in part by the need to manage risk across multiple supplier tiers and respond to transport disruptions with fewer manual processes.
Antonio Boccalandro, President APAC at Blue Yonder, linked the project to resilience across Lamipak's trading network.
"Supply chain resilience is crucial for a company like Lamipak, whose expansive global network and steadfast commitment to customer satisfaction heavily depend on efficiency, agility and reliability," said Antonio Boccalandro, President APAC, Blue Yonder.
Blue Yonder sells supply chain software to retailers, manufacturers and logistics providers, and says it serves more than 3,000 customers. Its offering includes planning and execution tools alongside network services that connect trading partners.
For Lamipak, the rollout provides a shared system for monitoring orders and shipments across regions and partners. The company expects the platform to become part of its broader digital transformation programme as it manages growth in international markets.
"We're excited to support Lamipak in their digital transformation journey by providing a comprehensive, scalable solution that will enable them to strengthen their partnerships, gain a competitive advantage and drive sustainable growth," said Boccalandro.
