DHL named among Australia’s top five workplaces for 2025 by survey
DHL Group has been ranked among the top five workplaces in Australia by Great Place to Work.
The recognition for DHL comes following a comprehensive benchmarking survey that included input from 6,000 employees across all its international business units in Australia: DHL Express, DHL Supply Chain, DHL Global Forwarding, and DHL eCommerce. The survey assessed DHL against thousands of other Australian companies and focused on workplace experience, trust in leadership, company culture and organisational performance.
This year's results showed that 81 per cent of DHL employees consider the company a Great Place to Work, a figure significantly higher than the 60 per cent average reported across typical Australian companies. DHL's employee satisfaction rate also improved by 5 per cent compared to last year, reflecting a positive trend in staff engagement and well-being.
People-first culture
The business unit leaders at DHL Group in Australia collectively welcomed the results and stressed the motivation to keep participating in such assessments. Denise McGrouther, Managing Director of DHL eCommerce, noted the business impact of focusing on workplace culture.
"DHL's positive workplace culture fosters employee satisfaction and drives productivity, which translates into our ability to deliver customer excellence. By prioritising employee well-being, we empower our teams to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations."
Phil Corcoran, Managing Director of DHL Express, echoed the value of prioritising people and the role of such recognition.
"Our people are at the heart of everything we do, so it's fantastic to be recognised by Great Place to Work! By focusing on our employees' growth and well-being, we not only boost their skills and development but also improve our service for our customers. We're really proud to be creating work environments where everyone can thrive."
Leadership focus
Leadership at DHL was acknowledged by George Lawson, Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding, as central to building an engaged workforce and achieving business goals. He said,
"Developing the effectiveness of our leaders at DHL is key to creating a Great Place to Work. It's our leaders who shape our culture, build employee engagement, and drive business success."
Steve Thompsett, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, drew attention to the company's ongoing commitment to safety and workforce well-being.
"One of the foremost reasons DHL is considered a Great Place to Work is our unwavering commitment to safety. This year, we've elevated our priority for the physical and mental well-being of our workforce by enriching our safety education through our 2X30 strategy."
Thompsett added, "Our leadership team plays an important role in leading with a focus on a balance of respect and results, with the engagement of our teams being a top priority. DHL's employees are its greatest strength, and to be acknowledged by them once again is a testament to our commitment to cultivating a workplace culture where every team member feels safe, valued, and empowered to grow."
Employee initiatives
DHL's achievement is underpinned by global initiatives such as World Safety Day, which focuses on staff safety and mental health education. The company operates comprehensive training programmes for workforce skills development, supports engagement and community participation, and recognises employee contributions through dedicated recognition programmes. These approaches are aimed at maintaining a positive working environment and reinforcing a culture of appreciation.
Moving forward, starting in 2026, DHL employees globally will no longer be evaluated by separate business units for Great Place to Work certification but rather as part of the unified DHL brand. This aligns with DHL's broader objective to position itself as an Employer of Choice and underscores ongoing priorities such as maintaining safe workplaces, providing competitive benefits, fostering inclusion, and supporting professional growth.
Dr. Thomas Ogilvie, Chief Human Resources Officer of DHL Group, commented on the significance of the recognition and the company's commitment to ongoing improvement.
"We want to be a great company to work for all. Participating in the Great Place to Work survey provides us with detailed insights about our strengths and our areas of improvement, also by comparing our results with those of other leading companies. This recognition is important for employer branding and significantly contributes to our perception as an attractive employer."
DHL's latest certification as a Great Place to Work reflects its ongoing focus on employee well-being, leadership development, and organisational culture in Australia.
