BigCommerce expands global Stripe checkout integration

Tue, 3rd Feb 2026

BigCommerce has expanded its partnership with Stripe, giving merchants on the eCommerce platform worldwide access to Stripe's Optimised Checkout Suite, including Link, Buy Now, Pay Later options and local payment methods.

The companies said the upgraded integration now covers merchants across the Americas, EMEA and APAC. Stripe's Link checkout option had previously been available mainly to BigCommerce merchants in the US. The rollout makes Link available globally through BigCommerce.

The update also adds Stripe Radar for fraud prevention and expands the range of payment methods merchants can offer at checkout. BigCommerce said the integration upgrade targets issues such as rising operational costs and cross-border selling.

BigCommerce started in Sydney in 2009 and now operates as part of Commerce, the parent group behind BigCommerce, Feedonomics and Makeswift.

Checkout changes

The integration includes what Stripe calls its Optimised Checkout Suite. BigCommerce said merchants can offer dynamic local and alternative payment methods, including Link, BNPL and regional payment methods.

Stripe Link stores customer payment details for faster repeat purchases. BigCommerce said Link enables repeat customers to check out three times faster.

The companies also pointed to conversion and revenue metrics associated with the upgraded checkout. BigCommerce said merchants can see up to 14% higher conversion rates for returning users through Link. It also said support for more than 30 local payment methods and BNPL offerings can reduce cart abandonment and increase revenue by up to 14%.

The update includes Stripe Radar, which uses machine learning to detect and block fraudulent transactions. BigCommerce said Radar reduces fraud by 38% on average.

Operational scope

BigCommerce also set out a broader operational scope for the combined offer. It described a single platform covering payments, tax, fraud prevention and payouts. It cited 99.999% uptime and more than 500 million daily API requests for Stripe's platform.

Merchants can upgrade their existing Stripe integration through the BigCommerce dashboard, BigCommerce said. The companies did not disclose commercial terms.

For Australian merchants, the global rollout means the same checkout options now apply across local and international markets through the BigCommerce and Stripe integration. BigCommerce said the payment methods surface dynamically based on shopper location.

Company comments

"Stripe brings a high level of performance and intelligence to payments, and that matters more than ever in today's commerce environment," said Travis Hess, CEO, Commerce. "By combining Stripe's AI-powered payments and fraud prevention with BigCommerce's open platform, we're helping merchants build a commerce foundation that's ready for what's next, whether that's expanding globally, adopting new technologies or meeting rising customer expectations."

One BigCommerce merchant cited early access to additional payment options through the expanded integration.

"As a merchant on BigCommerce, this integration gave us some big benefits," said Frank Almeida, Head of Ecommerce, Canpump. "Having early access to wallets like Link and Amazon Pay, plus flexible options like Klarna, gave our customers faster and more convenient ways to pay."

Stripe said it sees the expanded tie-up as a way to make newer payment technology available across a wider range of merchants on BigCommerce.

"Stripe's goal is to make frontier technology accessible to every merchant - from global brands to businesses selling online for the first time," said Tyler Bryson, CRO Americas, Stripe. "This integration with BigCommerce ensures that merchants of any size or technical skill can turn checkout into a reliable growth engine."

The companies said the expanded integration is available to BigCommerce merchants worldwide, with upgrades managed inside the BigCommerce dashboard.
