Xero unveils 2025 app Power Lists spotlighting top tools

Thu, 22nd Jan 2026

Xero has published 10 new "Power Lists" ranking the apps most frequently connected by customers through the Xero App Store during the 2025 calendar year.

The lists cover categories that include receipt capture, reporting, payments, time tracking, job management, retail, trades, and tools used by professional services firms. Xero said the rankings reflect the number of customers who initiated an app connection via the Xero App Store.

Xero positioned the lists as a snapshot of which integrations its customers adopted most over the past year. The company operates a marketplace where third-party apps connect with its accounting platform.

"Using apps saves us time and frees us up to work on the things we want to be working on," said Emma Barton, COO, Mutual Muse.

Standard Setters

Xero placed five apps in a group it called "The Standard Setters". It described them as the most popular apps across all categories based on customer-initiated connections.

The list includes Dext, which focuses on invoice and expense capture and bookkeeping automation. Xero also included G-Accon, which connects Xero with Google Sheets and supports reporting and data exchange.

Sumday also appeared in the list. The company positions its product around carbon accounting for businesses and their suppliers.

Syft Analytics featured as another "Standard Setter". Xero described it as a financial reporting tool that includes interactive reporting and forecasting features.

Stripe was also on the list as it supports card payments and digital wallets for online invoices sent from Xero.

Rising Stars

Xero also published a list called "The Rising Stars". It said the list reflects apps that gained momentum after joining the platform in the past year.

Etsy appeared as a featured integration. The description in the lists says the integration automates sales data into Xero and syncs sales, payouts, and fees.

Cloudify also featured. Xero said it integrates Xero with CRM products, including HubSpot and Pipedrive, and it manages invoices, quotes, and customer data.

Karbon was one of the top three in the "Rising Stars" section. Xero described it as a practice platform for accounting firms that brings together team workflows, client communications, billing, payments, and reporting.

Awards Focus

Another list, "The Trophy Cabinet", covers apps recognised in the annual Xero Global App Award in the categories of Global Small Business App of the Year and Global Practise App of the Year, Regional Small Business App of the Year and Regional Practise App of the Year, and Innovation App of the Year, Emerging App of the Year, and People's Choice App.

Xero said the collection includes award-winning apps and highlighted design, innovation and customer satisfaction as criteria in the awards programme. These winners effortlessly integrate with Xero to provide a comprehensive, real-time view of a company's finances, from inventory management to payroll simplification.

Category Lists

Several of the Power Lists focus on functional categories used by small businesses and their advisers. "The Advisor's Arsenal" covers practice management software that connects with Xero and targets accounting firms.

"The Spend Streamliners" lists apps that focus on cash flow tracking, spend management, and receipt capture. Xero framed the category around reducing manual data entry and dealing with missing receipts.

"The Team Timekeepers" focuses on time tracking tools connected to Xero. Xero linked the category to payroll workflows, client billing, and team efficiency.

"The Job Flow Favourites" covers apps used for billing, quotes, and project management. Xero associated these tools with cash flow management in project-based work.

Xero also published "The Retailer's Top Shelf". It framed the category around inventory management, payment processing, and online sales tools used by retail businesses that connect with Xero.

Another category, "The Trades Toolkit", highlights apps used by trade businesses. Xero said the tools support project management, staff management, and cash flow tasks.

Professional Services

Xero's final named category in the material provided is "The Pure Professionals". It focuses on apps used by firms, agencies and consultancies that connect with Xero.

In that list, Stripe appears again. Xero linked it to accepting card payments through Xero invoices and reconciliation. GoCardless also features, which Xero described as direct debit payment collection and credit control workflow reduction.

Sumday appears for a second time, this time framed around carbon accounting and sustainability reporting alongside financial data. Jibble is also listed as it syncs payroll hours into Xero and turns billable hours into invoices.

Paidnice was also introduced on the "Pure Professionals" list. The description says it automates late fees and credit control processes.

Xero said the lists reflect app connection activity over 2025. The company indicated it will use the Power Lists as an annual view of app adoption across its customer base.
