UST partners Anthropic to train 20,000 staff on Claude

UST has partnered with Anthropic to integrate the Claude family of AI models across its platforms, engineering services and internal operations. The agreement also includes training 20,000 UST employees worldwide to use Claude.

The move places UST among a growing group of technology services companies trying to turn generative AI from limited pilots into tools embedded in day-to-day business systems. It also gives Anthropic broader access to large corporate customers through a partner that works with banks, telecoms groups and manufacturers.

Under the arrangement, UST will combine Claude with its industry and enterprise software platforms, as well as the engineering environments it builds and manages for clients. The rollout will span consulting, data and automation, cloud, infrastructure, security and a range of sector-focused products.

The partnership is aimed at business customers introducing AI into established workflows while maintaining governance, security controls and human oversight. UST said its staff will be certified across roles including architects, engineers, consultants and industry specialists.

Engineering focus

A major part of the agreement covers engineering systems used in semiconductor, automotive, manufacturing, telecoms, embedded and internet of things settings. Claude will be integrated into tools used for design verification, semiconductor validation, factory operations and field service.

In chip and hardware development, the software will be used to read pinouts and schematics, write and run regression test scripts, and compare live edge data against digital twins to detect firmware and signal issues. The aim is to reduce manual scripting and identify faults earlier in the development cycle.

One of the clearest examples is UST-iDEC, a platform UST uses in hardware and silicon validation. The company said the system already cuts validation cycle times by 50 to 70 per cent and reduces standard four-day turnaround times to 48 hours through an automated validation process. Claude is being added as the reasoning layer in that workflow.

Sector platforms

UST also plans to add Claude to selected sector-specific and horizontal business platforms. In healthcare, its CarePath product will use Claude in member services, care management and claims processes, with actions routed for approval before reaching a member.

In telecoms, UST's IntelliOps platform will use Claude in network operations, service assurance and OSS/BSS modernisation. The model will help operators identify service issues, predict radio access network failures and manage approved responses through secure integrations.

Banking is another target area. UST said its FinX platform, which connects legacy core banking systems to a real-time architecture, will use Claude to support onboarding, automate document processing and give staff faster access to account and compliance information within existing audit and governance controls.

Internal rollout

UST is also extending Claude across its own operations, including contracts, legal, talent, marketing, infrastructure and finance. It is building repeatable workflows with guardrails and human checks at key stages to improve consistency and reduce time spent on routine administrative work.

That internal deployment is likely to be watched closely by customers, as many companies want evidence that service providers are using the same AI tools in their own businesses before recommending them to clients. UST said the experience would help it develop tested workflows, governance models and value frameworks for customer projects.

Anthropic has been expanding its enterprise push through direct sales and partners that can embed Claude within broader transformation programmes. The company positions Claude as a model family designed for business use, with a focus on reliability, governance and controlled deployment.

For UST, the partnership also serves a workforce goal. Training 20,000 employees would cover a substantial share of its global headcount of more than 30,000, signalling that the company wants AI skills spread well beyond a specialist technical group.

Anthropic said the scale of the training programme and UST's use of Claude in its own engineering work were important parts of the arrangement.

UST said the agreement would also shape how it develops consulting and delivery work across its wider business.
