Team Global Express & TEMU deliver 1 million parcels nationwide

Team Global Express has partnered with eCommerce platform TEMU to support deliveries across Australia, including remote and regional communities.

TEMU, which began operations in Australia in March 2023, now utilises the national logistics capabilities of Team Global Express to increase delivery volumes and reach customers in less accessible areas of the country.

The collaboration between the two companies has resulted in more than 50 new local jobs, primarily for drivers, and a surge in the volume handled by the Team Global Express network.

Milestone deliveries

Team Global Express recently achieved its 1,000,000th TEMU delivery in Australia, marking a significant milestone for both organisations. The company highlighted the accomplishment as evidence of growing demand for online retail and the capacity of domestic logistics providers to manage large-scale delivery operations.

"We're proud to help TEMU reach more Australians, more reliably, every day. Working together, this partnership represents progress in action for Australian consumers, our network, and the local retail ecosystem. Importantly, the partnership also supports economic uplift in regional Australia, having helped create more than 50 new driver roles and increased volume flows throughout Team Global Express's 300-strong agent network," said Dwain McDonald, Team Global Express Managing Director, International and eCommerce.

The company indicated that its expanded capacity is directly connected to an increase in TEMU's parcel deliveries, particularly to regional areas that previously faced longer transit times or reduced service frequency.

Regional focus

A notable feature of the partnership is the introduction of a direct linehaul service into Cairns. This new delivery route has reportedly decreased the time it takes for parcels to reach Northern Queensland and improved reliability for consumers in the region.

The enhancement of logistics infrastructure in regional Australia was identified by both companies as a key goal of the partnership. The job creation and improved delivery capabilities come amid broader shifts in the retail sector, with more consumers relying on eCommerce platforms for access to goods and services.

TEMU perspective

A representative of TEMU commented on the importance of reliable logistics in building customer confidence and satisfaction as the platform expands its presence in Australia.

"TEMU is committed to providing a superior customer experience through reliable and efficient delivery services to Australian consumers. The recent 1 millionth delivery marks a significant step in our partnership with Team Global Express," a TEMU spokesperson said.

Logistics network expansion

Team Global Express noted that the partnership had resulted in increased freight volumes across its 300-agent network. By leveraging this infrastructure and the additional workforce, the carrier expects to further reduce delivery times and reach more households, including those outside major metropolitan centres.

The collaboration reflects continued growth in online retail and logistics demand, particularly as multinational digital marketplaces like TEMU look to establish and expand their operational footprint within Australia.
