TCL Australia has launched its VoxIN air conditioner series in Australia, targeting the residential market ahead of summer.

The range includes four models from 2.6kW to 7.2kW, with prices starting at AUD $959. The products combine voice control, motion sensing and app-based energy monitoring as TCL expands its home appliance offering in the local market.

A central feature is an offline voice control system that lets users issue commands without an internet connection. The units respond to spoken instructions through an onboard voice module, which TCL positions as a simpler alternative to app-dependent controls.

The systems also include an AI-based function that learns household usage patterns and preferred room temperatures. TCL says that data is used to adjust settings automatically to match regular routines.

Another feature, branded "I Feel", measures temperature from the remote control rather than the wall-mounted indoor unit. TCL says this is intended to cool or warm the area where the user is located instead of relying on a reading taken from the unit itself.

Motion sensing is also included. Airflow can be directed towards occupants for faster cooling or away from them to reduce cold drafts.

Energy focus

Energy use is a major part of the launch message as Australian households continue to watch power bills. TCL says the VoxIN series uses inverter technology, an Eco Mode and what it calls T-AI energy management to reduce cooling intensity once a target temperature has been reached.

According to TCL, the series can achieve an energy-saving rate of 37% compared with models without AI energy-saving functions. Users can also track electricity consumption through the TCL Home app, which provides a real-time usage chart.

That focus reflects broader competition in the consumer appliance market, where manufacturers increasingly pair smart home features with claims of lower running costs. For air conditioning brands, ease of use and energy consumption have become key selling points as homes add more connected devices.

Sleep Mode adjusts temperature, fan speed and display brightness overnight. TCL also says Smart Arrive/Leave Home Mode can switch the unit on as a user approaches home and turn it off when they leave.

The launch expands TCL's presence in Australia beyond televisions and consumer electronics as it seeks a larger share of the home appliance category. Moving into air conditioning gives the company another route into households already familiar with its wider product range.

Hawke Zhang, Managing Director for TCL Electronics Australia, said the design was based on everyday use in local homes.

"The VoxIN Series is designed around how Australians actually live," Zhang said.

"Summer should be about relaxing, not struggling with complicated settings or waiting around for apps to connect. With offline voice control, you can simply ask for what you need, and the system responds with instant comfort."

TCL also linked the launch to household concerns over seasonal energy costs.

"We understand that Aussie households are watching their electricity bills closely, especially during the hottest months of the year," Zhang said.

"With the VoxIN Series, you don't have to compromise between staying cool and keeping energy costs down. By combining smart T-AI energy management with targeted cooling features like 'I Feel' control, the system ensures that power is only being used where and when you need it.

"This is an incredibly exciting addition to TCL's whole home ecosystem in Australia. It represents a huge step forward in how we bring advanced but super user-friendly technology to market. By expanding our local appliance portfolio with standout features like offline voice control and Sleep Mode, we're continuing to provide reliable home solutions for Australian families."
