Ricoh unveils IM C401F printer for hybrid & enterprise workspaces
Ricoh has launched the RICOH IM C401F A4 colour desktop multifunction printer (MFP) in Australia, targeting hybrid work environments and enterprise users.
The new device is designed to offer medium to large workgroups a practical and reliable print solution, incorporating high-speed colour printing, a 10.1-inch Smart Operation Panel, and enterprise-grade security standards. Ricoh positioned the IM C401F as a consistent step with its A3 colour flagship range, ensuring a familiar user experience across workplace devices.
Sul Koralege, Product Manager at Ricoh Australia, highlighted the company's aim to address evolving workplace needs with the new offering. In a statement, he said, "The IM C401F is equipped with a range of new and enhanced features to meet the needs of the modern workplace while supporting enterprise requirements for robust security and sustainability. This is Ricoh's premium desktop colour solution – bringing enterprise-level performance to every corner of the hybrid workspace, helping businesses stay productive and responsive with a print solution built for speed, consistency, and high-demand environments."
Performance and security
The IM C401F is capable of printing up to 40 pages per minute (ppm) in colour and 43 ppm in black and white. High-capacity paper trays can accommodate up to 2,300 sheets, and high-yield toner supplies are intended to minimise downtime for busy teams.
Security features of the device include Ricoh's Always Current Technology Platform, which ensures the MFP is updated with the latest security enhancements. TPM 2.0 encryption, WPA3 WiFi protection, and support for TLS 1.3 protocols are all part of the security suite, aimed at protecting data across networks, devices, and access points. These are the same features included in Ricoh's A3 colour MFP range.
Cloud integration and connectivity
The IM C401F supports Ricoh's Streamline NX, Cloudstream, and various third-party workflow management solutions. Users can access cloud applications, manage workflows, and oversee device fleets using the RICOH Smart Integration platform. Mobile printing options such as AirPrint and Mopria are included to facilitate printing from various devices and locations, supporting hybrid work practices.
The device also integrates Ricoh's third-generation 10.1-inch Smart Operation Panel, which features a capacitive touchscreen and operates on Android OS. This panel is designed to enhance user experience by providing consistent and intuitive controls across Ricoh's device portfolio.
Sustainability and build quality
Ricoh's approach to the device's sustainability includes the use of 10% post-consumer recycled plastics in its construction and a reduction in plastic packaging by more than 43%. The MFP is designed for efficiency with improved energy consumption, aiming to reduce its carbon footprint. According to Ricoh, the machine has a monthly duty cycle of 150,000 prints and utilises long-life components suitable for demanding environments.

The launch comes as the A4 colour printer market demonstrates sustained growth, particularly in high-speed device segments. Data from market research firm IDC projects the A4 colour market to reach a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.8% for the period 2022 to 2026. Within this market, the 21–30 ppm speed segment is forecast to grow by 6.7%, while the 31–44 ppm segment is expected to grow at 12.3%. These trends are attributed to increased demand for efficient and faster A4 colour devices among businesses moving towards hybrid work models.
Ricoh states that the IM C401F is part of its broader strategy to deliver a range of intelligent MFPs that can deliver consistent performance whether in the office or supporting remote workflows, with automation aimed at reducing manual tasks and supporting flexible workstyles.
