IAG taps Codafication’s Crunchwork to streamline claims
Codafication has partnered with Insurance Australia Group to modernise how property claims move through IAG's supplier network, using Codafication's Crunchwork platform as a shared system for insurers, customers and repair firms.
The companies said Crunchwork will manage the claims lifecycle across IAG's property claims supply chain. The platform uses automated workflows, structured data and real-time updates. The aim is to give customers, suppliers and IAG teams the same view of claim progress.
IAG is the largest general insurer in Australia and New Zealand by premium volume. It underwrites more than AUD $17 billion of insurance premiums per year across brands in both markets, including NRMA Insurance, CGU and WFI in Australia, and State and AMI in New Zealand.
Claims workflow
Property claims in Australia commonly relate to storm and water damage, fire and theft. These claims often involve multiple parties, such as assessors, builders, trades and other suppliers, alongside the insurer and the policyholder.
Codafication said Crunchwork connects stakeholders on a single system. It replaces manual steps in the claims lifecycle with automation and structured data. It also provides real-time updates across insurers, customers and suppliers.
Codafication positioned the platform as a response to delays and communication gaps that can occur when claim progress information sits in separate systems or gets exchanged via phone calls and emails. The company said a shared record can reduce duplicated follow-ups and make responsibilities clearer across the supply chain.
Local platform
Codafication is an Australian technology company founded in Brisbane. It was founded in 2015 and launched its first product in 2018. The company said it remains self-funded and develops its core platform locally.
Crunchwork sits alongside other Codafication products, including the Unity development framework and Virtual Assist, which the company describes as a tool for remote assessments.
Codafication's Founder and Managing Director, Daniel Sandaver, linked the product's approach to his experience in insurance claims operations.
"After years in insurance claims, I noticed a lack of real-time visibility on claim status with suppliers, forcing teams to chase updates by phone or email, which slowed down the entire rebuild process," said Daniel Sandaver, Founder and Managing Director, Codafication.
Sandaver described the interaction between policyholders, insurers and the supply chain as a recurring point of confusion in property claims.
"We like to call this the 'triangle of confusion' because it involves the three main stakeholders, the customer, the insurance carrier, and the supply chain, interacting with the claim. With Crunchwork's real-time information sharing, the customer will know who's responsible for which part of the claim and who to go to for clarification," said Sandaver.
Sandaver said the rollout inside IAG would emphasise improved outcomes and internal controls, as well as a consistent approach to supplier management.
"By scaling Crunchwork into the business, we are driving better claims outcomes, enhancing customer experience, providing real-time updates delivering both cost and time efficiencies. Through our partnership, IAG can focus on improved system controls and consistent supplier management, providing the best possible experience for their clients while modernising their claims supply chain operating model," said Sandaver.
IAG network
IAG's property claims operations rely on a large network of suppliers and assessors. The insurer said integrating this network into Crunchwork would create a shared record across the claim.
"By integrating our supplier network into Crunchwork, we are creating a single source of truth for every claim. Suppliers, assessors, and IAG teams alike will see the same real-time information-repair schedules, scope updates, and progress milestones- creating a seamless customer journey," said Scott Linsday, Executive Manager of Property Fulfilment, IAG.
The partnership sits within a broader push by large insurers to reduce friction in claims handling and increase visibility across outsourced repair and assessment work. Property claims often involve long repair timelines and multiple handovers, particularly after severe weather events, where demand for trades and materials can strain capacity.
Codafication said Crunchwork focuses on workflow coordination and information sharing rather than individual point solutions. The company said the platform keeps stakeholders aligned on tasks, updates and progress through a claim.
IAG and Codafication did not disclose commercial terms for the agreement or how widely Crunchwork has already been deployed across IAG brands. The companies said the platform would manage the claims lifecycle across IAG's property claims supply chain.
