HSBC has launched HSBCnio for its corporate and institutional clients across a wide range of markets, including Australia and New Zealand.

The service is part of the bank's transaction banking overhaul and is designed to bring banking services, data and information into the systems and workflows clients already use.

HSBCnio combines web and mobile access, embedded connectivity through application programming interfaces, and tools that let clients use artificial intelligence to retrieve authorised banking information. Clients can view cash positions and transactions, trade loans, foreign exchange and payment tracking through a simplified interface.

For companies that connect banking functions directly into internal systems, HSBCnio also includes API documentation, software development kits and a sandbox for testing integrations before deployment.

The launch comes as treasury teams manage cash, payments and financing activity across multiple markets and software environments. Banks have been under pressure to make transaction banking services easier to access from external platforms rather than requiring users to switch between separate portals and systems.

HSBCnio also gives clients' own AI tools access to authorised account and transaction information through the bank's Model Context Protocol. This is intended to help treasury and finance teams search and interpret banking data more quickly while operating within existing permissions and controls.

In Australia and New Zealand, the announcement included regional comment from the bank's payments business.

"HSBCnio offers our clients in Australia and New Zealand a new AI-led solution that enables banking services and payment information to be integrated flexibly into their systems and workflows," said John Scott, Country Head of Global Payments Solutions, HSBC Australia and New Zealand.

Market rollout

The product is available to all corporate and institutional client segments, although the mix of features differs by market. Full functionality is offered in markets including Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

Some countries will have access without the mobile app, while others will not initially have the Model Context Protocol function. In a smaller number of markets, access is limited to web-only or embedded banking services.

That phased rollout reflects the uneven pace at which large international banks can deploy digital products across jurisdictions with different technology environments, client requirements and regulatory conditions. It also underlines how banks are increasingly treating transaction banking as a software integration challenge as much as a traditional relationship business.

HSBC is one of the world's largest banking groups, with USD $3,438 billion in assets at the end of June 2026. The London-headquartered bank operates from offices in 56 countries and territories.

The launch adds to a broader industry push to make treasury services more accessible through APIs, embedded finance models and AI tools within corporate finance workflows. Large multinational clients have been seeking more direct access to account data, payment status and liquidity information as they automate back-office processes and reduce manual checking across banking platforms.

HSBC plans to add further transaction banking functions and additional AI-enabled features to HSBCnio, including a service called Ask HSBC designed to help clients query and interpret banking information.
