Blue Yonder unveils AI-driven upgrades for resilient logistics

Fri, 19th Sep 2025

Blue Yonder has introduced enhancements to its Transportation Management solution that incorporate cognitive intelligence, artificial intelligence and sustainability features to support supply chain operators in addressing today's evolving operational pressures.

The enhanced Transportation Management system is positioned to help retailers, manufacturers and logistics service providers increase efficiency, facilitate collaboration across enterprises, and strengthen the resilience of supply chain operations. According to Blue Yonder, the solution is powered by their network and generative AI agents capable of predictive analysis, and it features a conversational interface for straightforward engagement.

These updates come as supply chain and transportation managers contend with the multifaceted challenges of reducing operating costs, maintaining service levels, and meeting emissions regulations amid external disruptions such as geopolitical shifts and tariffs.

Product foundations

Transportation Management is part of Blue Yonder's Cognitive Solutions and is built on the company's platform, using a cloud-based architecture for scalability and enhanced AI capability. The integration of their AI data cloud allows the elimination of data silos and unifies decision-making across a multi-enterprise network.

Gurdip Singh, Chief Product Officer at Blue Yonder, explained the vision for these enhancements:

"In today's disruption-filled world, leaders require business continuity and need transportation solutions that provide resiliency, cost savings, and efficiency while complying with regulatory requirements. Our latest enhancements and vision enable customers to transition from reactive to predictive and prescriptive operations, with real-time visibility and optimization powered by AI and a multi-enterprise network. From ocean to over-the-road, our Transportation Management solution allow our customers to seamlessly scale their shipment volume from anywhere, at any time."

Key enhancements

The updated Transportation Management solution introduces several specific features. The integration with the Blue Yonder Network enables transport managers to connect with multiple trading partners and systems, facilitating functions such as carrier collaboration, appointment scheduling, real-time visibility with telematics, and inbound shipment optimization. These tools are designed to foster resilient and coordinated operations and support rapid adaptation in the face of disruptions.

Sustainability is also addressed through the Logistics Emissions Calculator, now part of Blue Yonder's Sustainable Supply Chain Manager solution. This integration allows users to track transportation emissions and related charges, and to incorporate sustainability metrics into optimisation processes. The goal is to enable users to make emissions-aware decisions when planning shipments and routes to help meet environmental targets.

The Logistics Ops Agent employs AI to deliver daily operational briefs customised for each user role, providing real-time notifications of issues and actionable suggestions for addressing backhaul opportunities and shipment routing challenges.

Additionally, predictive AI is embedded in the planning process, helping users swiftly identify loads needing route adjustments, as well as shipments at risk due to issues like carrier performance. This predictive capability is supported by an optimisation engine designed to continue improving with use, blending practical execution realities with advanced optimisation techniques.

The user experience has been updated to offer role-specific dashboards, dynamic views, personalised alerts and direct access to key performance indicator measurement.

Industry perspective

Blue Yonder's work with clients has informed these updates. Johnny Ivanyi, Global Head of Logistics COE, Bayer Crop Science, commented on Bayer's use of the solution:

"Bayer's unwavering commitment to manage digital disruption and elevate innovation is exemplified through Blue Yonder Transportation Management and Blue Yonder Network. These transformative efforts transcend conventional technological upgrades, serving as strategic imperatives that redefine supply chain management in a rapidly evolving landscape. By embracing agility, collaboration, and cutting-edge technology, Bayer is establishing a resilient, efficient, and customer-centric logistics network poised for future challenges."

Outcomes for users

Blue Yonder reports that with these enhancements, transportation and logistics professionals are positioned to improve operational precision by leveraging machine learning, AI and adaptive designs. The multi-tiered optimisation supported by predictive AI is intended to allow customers to balance service levels with cost controls and environmental goals, as well as to react more quickly to disruptions by using dynamic optimisation algorithms.

The cloud-based framework supports scalability and security, along with smooth updates and rapid implementation of new features. Encouraging collaboration across extended networks of carriers and suppliers, the solution is described as offering insights that can be shared in real time to streamline decision-making processes.
