Webull Australia has extended and revised its Qantas Points offer for new and existing users. The changes cover rewards for first-time international trades, ongoing trading activity, and eligible deposits or share transfers.

New and existing clients who have not made an international trade before can now earn 2,500 Qantas Points by opening or holding an account and completing a first buy trade of AUD $200 or more in US, Hong Kong, or China markets, excluding US options.

The offer replaces an earlier welcome promotion that required a minimum deposit of AUD $500 and awarded 1,000 points. Under the revised structure, the deposit requirement has been removed, and eligibility now depends on a single qualifying buy order.

Webull has also changed the points available on international trades for all clients. Users can earn up to 5,000 Qantas Points a month on eligible buy and sell orders of AUD $200 or more in US, Hong Kong, and China markets.

A new band for trades worth between AUD $200 and AUD $1,000 now earns 10 points. Trades between AUD $1,000 and AUD $4,999.99 continue to earn 50 points, while trades of AUD $5,000 and above now earn 250 points.

Previously, trades below AUD $1,000 did not earn points. Orders of AUD $5,000 to AUD $9,999.99 earned 100 points, while trades of AUD $10,000 or more earned 200 points. As a result, the monthly ceiling has risen from 2,000 points to 5,000 points.

Transfer changes

Separate changes apply to deposits and share transfers. Clients can earn up to 25,000 bonus Qantas Points at a rate of 1 point per AUD $1 on eligible deposits and share transfers, capped at AUD $25,000.

The minimum transfer size for that offer has increased from AUD $2,000 to AUD $10,000. The arrangement is now open to existing clients as well as new ones.

Qualifying transfers and deposits must be completed by the end of January and held until the end of March. Points from that promotion will be paid as a single amount in April rather than in instalments across a year.

The previous version of the transfer offer had been due to run until the end of September, with points paid in four instalments when balances were retained until the end of July.

The Qantas-linked incentives form part of the broker's effort to tie share trading activity to frequent flyer rewards. The latest revision lowers the threshold for entry on the first-trade offer while increasing the reward attached to that initial transaction.

Rob Talevski, chief executive officer of Webull Securities Australia, outlined the rationale for the changes.

"When we launched with Qantas Frequent Flyer, the aim was to reward clients for something they were already doing. These updates take that further by lowering the entry point to access meaningful points benefits. So, a first international trade of A$200 now earns 2,500 Qantas Points rather than requiring a larger deposit to qualify. We have also simplified the transfer offer, so clients receive their points in a single payment instead of instalments spread across a year," Talevski said.
