V2 Digital receives AUD $30 million boost from Columbia Capital

Tue, 14th May 2024

Australian tech startup V2 Digital is set to expand following a significant AUD $30 million investment from Columbia Capital, a growth equity investor with over 30 years of experience and a history of backing more than 175 successful communications and technology companies.

Founded in April 2023, V2 Digital harnesses its expertise in data, software, cloud, and design to deliver transformative solutions for its clients. The company aims to become the leading digital and data consultancy in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and is on track to exceed revenue expectations for this financial year. The new funding will support V2’s ambitious growth plans and enhance its capacity to deliver impactful client services.

Craig Howe, CEO of V2 Digital, commented, “This investment will enable V2 to further bolster our strong market position by strengthening our offerings, attracting top talent to grow our consulting team to over 90 by the end of the year, and broadening our geographical reach beyond our existing footprint in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.”

Columbia Capital has a reputation for partnering with experienced entrepreneurs to build businesses that provide tech-enabled service solutions, particularly those that enhance the agility, decision-making, and innovation capabilities of large enterprises. Jason Booma, Partner at Columbia Capital, noted the potential of V2 under Howe’s leadership and the experienced team’s proven ability to deliver specialised expertise. “With an exceptional leadership team, spearheaded by Craig, along with an experienced team of talented data specialists, software and cloud engineers, and designers, we saw the potential of V2’s service offerings and believe the business is on track to cement its position as a go-to brand for complex and transformative solutions,” Booma said.

Under the leadership of Craig Howe, who previously founded Nebulr and served as Managing Director of APAC at Contino, V2 Digital has successfully executed over 150 large-scale transformations across a range of key industries. Howe remarked on the company’s understanding of current business challenges, stating, “We have a deep appreciation and understanding of the challenges leaders face today, with many in our ranks having been key decision-makers on the customer side, contributed to growing tech organisations, built market-leading consultancies, and held senior positions inside all three hyperscalers - Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, and Microsoft.”

V2 Digital’s year of successes includes valuable engagements with major brands in retail, energy, healthcare, media, and construction sectors. Notably, the firm recently achieved Advanced Tier status within the AWS Partner Network in just three months and was a finalist for AWS Rising Star Partner of the Year 2024 in Australia and New Zealand. It is also on track for AWS Premier Status and has been recognised as one of the Best Places to Work in Australia.

This announcement follows V2 Digital’s November 2023 appointment of Matt Farmer as a board member and investor, alongside key leadership hires including Ex-Microsoft Chief Architect Shane Baldacchino as Director of Cloud, Ex-Servian Director Steve Tzortzidis as Director of Data & AI, and former Microsoft CTO and AWS Head of Technology for Australia and New Zealand, Dr Pete Stanski, as Chief Technology Officer.

V2 Digital’s growth trajectory suggests a promising future for the startup as it continues to expand its reach and capabilities within the digital and data consultancy landscape.
