Temu opens Local Seller Program to all Australian businesses
Temu has fully opened its Local Seller Program to all Australian-registered businesses with locally stocked inventory.
This development allows Australian businesses of various sizes direct access to Temu's marketplace, which has experienced significant app download growth in the country. The Local Seller Program was previously available by invitation only but is now accessible to any qualified local seller, streamlining the process to reach consumers nationwide and increase online sales.
Temu's move is positioned to benefit a wide spectrum of local merchants, offering a direct route to a high-traffic digital marketplace and a suite of tools for managing orders, shipping, and fulfilment. Logistics automation is highlighted, with cloud-based shipping services such as ShipStation integrated into Temu's platform as of April 2025, enabling businesses to handle customer demand with greater efficiency.
Marketplace access
The Local Seller Program now provides a new low-cost channel for Australian merchants to expand their reach and tap into a growing base of online shoppers. Temu confirmed that sellers in more than 20 countries have already joined the program in their local markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and South Korea.
According to Temu, over half of new sellers make their first sale on the platform within 20 days, accelerating the opportunity for businesses to engage with new customers and generate early results.
Growth in Australia
Temu launched its services in Australia in March 2023 and reports positive feedback from local consumers due to its wide product assortment, competitive pricing, and focus on supply chain efficiency. The company states it saw a 72% increase in unique website visitors year-over-year, referencing Similar web's 2025 Digital 100 Australia report that named it the fastest-growing website in the country.
The app's popularity is further reflected in Apple's App Store rankings, where Temu was listed as the most downloaded iPhone app in Australia for 2024. It was also noted as the only shopping app featured within Apple's top 10 free apps list in Australia for that year.
International growth
Since its debut in the United States in September 2022, Temu has expanded to over 90 markets globally, including regions across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. The Local Seller Program forms a part of its strategy to localise operations and bring regional sellers onto its platform in each market.
Local businesses of all sizes across Australia now have a new, low-cost channel to reach millions of online shoppers, as global eCommerce platform Temu's Local Seller Program becomes fully open to all qualified local sellers. Previously available by invitation only, the program now welcomes any Australian-registered business with locally stocked inventory - offering a simplified path to expand online and grow sales nationwide.
Integrated shipping and logistics support aims to remove some of the barriers that small businesses might face when scaling nationally, while the platform's existing user base can provide new sellers with immediate exposure and sales potential.
Alongside opportunities for domestic sellers, Temu's program is also part of a wider pattern of international eCommerce marketplaces offering local fulfilment and seller support to drive activity in competitive markets like Australia.
