Paysafe has expanded its partnership with Tebex, linking Tebex's checkout system to Paysafe's broader payments platform.

Tebex, a monetisation platform for game servers and game studios, has integrated the Paysafe Gateway through a single connection to the Paysafe API. This adds card payments and a wider range of alternative payment methods for merchants using Tebex.

The companies already worked together through PaysafeCard, the prepaid eCash product available in Tebex Checkout since 2016. The expanded deal gives Tebex access to Paysafe's full payments suite through the same integration, including credit and debit card processing and branded alternative payment methods.

One of those methods, Openbucks, is already live in Tebex Checkout. It is aimed at US gamers who want to pay online with cash using third-party gift cards bought in physical stores or Openbucks' own digital card purchased through authorised resellers.

The move reflects the growing importance of payment choice in video gaming, where studios and server operators sell digital goods, subscriptions and other in-game purchases to players across regions. Payment providers and commerce platforms have been expanding their mix of local and non-card methods as merchants seek to reduce abandoned transactions and serve customers with diverse preferences.

The expanded partnership is intended to help Tebex's merchants offer more payment options at checkout. That is particularly relevant for smaller studios and community-led game servers, which often rely on third-party platforms to manage payments, compliance and support across multiple markets.

Gaming focus

Paysafe has built a notable presence in gaming and adjacent online sectors, alongside its operations in eCommerce, retail, travel and hospitality. It has roughly 2,800 employees across 12 countries and an annualised transactional volume of USD $167 billion in 2025.

Tebex operates as a division of Overwolf and presents itself as an extension of game studios and server operators looking to monetise player communities. It says it has more than 14 years of monetisation experience and has processed more than USD $1.5 billion through its platform.

The broader payments connection may help Tebex strengthen its position in a market where gaming businesses increasingly want a single provider or platform to manage multiple payment types. For developers, especially those with international audiences, integrating card processing, cash-based online methods, and regional alternatives into a single checkout can reduce technical overhead.

Zak Cutler, President of Global Gaming at Paysafe, outlined the company's rationale for broadening the relationship.

"We're delighted to broaden our partnership with Tebex. In a highly competitive market, video game creatives need to satisfy gamers' increasingly diverse transactional expectations. By connecting the Tebex Checkout to an exhaustive range of payment options, including recognisable brands like our Openbucks solution, the Paysafe Gateway will give Tebex and its customers an edge when it comes to streamlining, simplifying and ultimately optimising the monetisation of gaming."

For Tebex, the announcement centres on expanding checkout choice while leaving operational complexity to its payments partners and platform infrastructure. That model is designed to let studios focus on game development and community management rather than cross-border payments administration.

Liam Wiltshire, Vice President and GM of Tebex, described payments as part of both player retention and revenue collection.

"At Tebex, we know payments are more than a transaction. They're a critical part of how studios build relationships with their players and grow their games. Acting as an extension of the studio, our role is to remove the complexity of global payments, compliance, and support so teams can focus on creating amazing experiences. Expanding our partnership with Paysafe allows Tebex to offer greater choice and flexibility at checkout, helping our partners reach more players, reduce friction, and unlock new opportunities for growth."
