IKEA Australia now accepts Afterpay for in-store & online

IKEA Australia will begin accepting Afterpay for in-store and online purchases, offering customers new payment flexibility.
Shoppers across Australia can now utilise Afterpay at any of IKEA's 10 stores and 3 Plan and Order points, or through its online platform. The service allows customers to spread the cost of purchases across four interest-free fortnightly payments, making budgeting for home improvements more accessible.
The introduction of Afterpay for IKEA purchases comes as the Swedish home furnishing retailer prepares for its Black Friday sales, where discounts of up to 40% on selected items, including mattresses, will be available. This offers customers the ability to manage payment over time, potentially alleviating the financial burden often associated with major shopping events.
Katrina Konstas, EVP, Country Manager at Afterpay, stated, "As a nation, we are passionate about home renovation and design, and nothing embodies this more than our national love for IKEA. Over the past five years, we've seen a 127% increase in Afterpay sales within the home and garden category."
Konstas further expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with IKEA, "We are thrilled to be providing Afterpay customers at IKEA with a new and enhanced shopping experience that will help Aussies transform their homes while balancing their spending."
Daniela Altiparmakova, Deputy Digital Manager at IKEA Australia, commented on the introduction of Afterpay, "We are always looking to create a more convenient shopping experience at IKEA Australia. Affordability has never been more important to our customers, and now with Afterpay, we can provide even more flexible ways to purchase the home furnishings of their dreams."
Altiparmakova added, "Whether it's making a small or big upgrade around the house, preparing the home for entertaining over summer, or finding the perfect Christmas gift at IKEA, our customers can now enjoy the convenience and freedom that Afterpay offers when shopping at an IKEA store or online."
For in-store purchases, customers will need to download the Afterpay app, add the Afterpay Card to their digital wallet via platforms like Google Pay or Apple Pay, and proceed to checkout as they would with any digital card.
