GapMaps appoints Peter Holmes as Chief Executive Officer

Fri, 24th Apr 2026 (Today)

GapMaps has appointed Peter Holmes as chief executive officer as the Melbourne-based company expands internationally.

Holmes will oversee core operations, customer strategy and go-to-market activity as GapMaps targets growth in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, North America and Europe.

The company develops location intelligence software that helps brands decide where to open physical sites, estimate performance before launch and manage store networks. Its main product, GapMaps Live, combines datasets from multiple countries with trade area analysis and artificial intelligence tools.

Founded in 2013, GapMaps supports more than 500 brands across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and North America. It also provides data services that feed into geographic information systems, business intelligence software and analytics platforms.

Holmes joins as software companies serving retailers and other location-based businesses seek to turn market data into more standardised tools for expansion planning. GapMaps is investing in AI, automation and data infrastructure as it builds a more integrated platform for network strategy, forecasting and local market execution.

"GapMaps is uniquely positioned at the intersection of data, AI and real-world expansion," Holmes said.

"Our customers are no longer looking for isolated insights. They need an end-to-end system that helps them decide where to grow and execute locally with real precision. That's exactly what GapMaps delivers, and why I'm excited to lead the business through this next phase of global growth."

Founder and managing director Anthony Villanti will continue to work with Holmes as the business pursues overseas growth.

"This is an important moment for GapMaps. Peter's experience in scaling SaaS businesses and driving commercial performance makes him the right leader to guide the company through its next phase of growth. I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to expand globally and deliver more value to our customers," Villanti said.

GapMaps was built in Australia and supplies location intelligence data, including demographics, points of interest, visitation data and consumer segmentation. These datasets are updated continuously and can be accessed through its platform or through a data services model.

The appointment gives GapMaps a new chief executive as it works to broaden its presence beyond existing markets and deepen relationships with larger customers and partners.
