Dematic launches RTS 120 AGV for high-bay automation in warehouses

Tue, 11th Nov 2025

Dematic has added a new Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) to its portfolio with the RTS 120 reach truck, targeting high-bay, single-selective racking environments and offering automated high-bay handling without needing significant changes to warehouse infrastructure.

Product flexibility

The RTS 120 is designed to fit into both new and existing warehousing operations. It does not require custom-built racking or significant site adjustments. This allows warehouses currently dependent on manual reach trucks to transition to automation without immediate or intensive infrastructure investments.

The AGV is available in several models utilising Dematic's core AGV technology platform. All models support capacities up to 1,200 kg and reach heights up to 10 metres. The vehicle is manufactured and supported in Australia, leveraging locally developed software and engineering expertise to address regional customer needs.

Integration features

The RTS 120 can directly connect with warehouse management and control systems, according to Dematic. The AGV integrates with DEMATIC's MANAGE+ AGV Warehouse Control Software, providing visibility and coordination with other automated warehouse assets, such as palletisers, pallet shuttles, and robotic picking cells.

End-to-end connectivity enables data-driven logistics management, allowing sites to utilise real-time data to optimise workflows and logistics decisions. According to Dematic, these integrations are aimed at helping businesses to scale their operations and adapt as their needs evolve.

Safety focus

Key safety features include laser-guided navigation, which allows for precision handling and positioning while reducing the risk of product and rack damage. The RTS 120 achieves travel speeds of up to 1.7 metres per second and can operate in ambient, chilled, or freezer conditions, maintaining performance across various temperature ranges.

Dematic reports that these safety and predictability measures are critical for environments where manual forklift operations may introduce risks and potential costs from accidents or equipment damage.

Local support

The RTS 120 is backed by Australian-based support and engineering teams, with a focus on offering streamlined maintenance and upgrades to local customers.

"The robust design of the RTS 120 means it can operate reliably in high-bay environments where precision is critical, all while providing advanced safety features that minimise rack and product damage," said Tony Raggio, General Manager Sales - Mobile Automation ANZ, Dematic.

Automation pathway

For businesses looking to automate existing reach truck tasks, the RTS 120 offers a transitional path. Warehouses do not need to redesign their sites to adopt these AGVs, enabling them to reduce labour, improve consistency, and potentially achieve a return on investment more quickly.

The vehicle is intended to lay a foundation for resilient and flexible logistics operations by providing real-time data and predictive insights to support quicker supply chain decisions.

"The RTS 120 represents a step change for customers who want to automate reach truck tasks without a complete redesign of their site," said Raggio. "It delivers tangible benefits like reducing labour requirements, improving safety, and achieving strong ROI, while laying the foundation for resilient and agile logistics, where businesses can use real-time data to make smarter, faster supply chain decisions."
