DeepL launches Clarify to enhance AI translation interactivity

Today

DeepL has announced the launch of Clarify, a feature designed to enhance interactivity in AI translations for business users.

Clarify aims to transform the process by adding a real-time interactive element, allowing users to address ambiguities and customise translations more precisely and naturally.

"AI is increasingly becoming an essential sparring partner in our professional lives, which is what we're introducing with Clarify – a more personalised approach to interacting with the DeepL platform throughout the translation process," said Jarek Kutylowski, CEO and Founder of DeepL.

"Its role is similar to that of a colleague, proactively engaging with users and helping them fine-tune translations to achieve the high quality required for business communication."

The initiative comes at a time when AI is rapidly becoming integral to business operations, with recent data showing AI investment reaching USD $184 billion last year. Expectations for increased AI integration in daily operations are high, with 72% of business leaders planning to expand their use of AI by the end of 2025. The focus is shifting towards specialised AI applications capable of delivering personalised and contextual solutions, particularly in tasks such as translation, which require high levels of precision and nuance.

DeepL has highlighted that its platform requires significantly fewer edits than competitors, such as Google Translate and ChatGPT-4, indicating its strength in delivering more accurate translations. The launch of Clarify is positioned to enhance this experience by enabling human-AI collaboration, thereby ensuring translations meet specific business needs and address intricate cultural or contextual nuances.

"This powerful addition brings an added layer of personalisation and accuracy to the DeepL experience, so that our customers can get even greater value out of our platform," added Kutylowski.

Clarify operates by engaging users with questions about context and specific phrases, refining translations in real-time to better fit the user's needs. "This is a tremendous milestone for our company from a technological perspective and is just the beginning of many exciting innovations we have coming to the DeepL Language AI platform to enhance its interactivity," stated Sebastian Enderlein, CTO of DeepL.

The introduction of Clarify is part of DeepL's strategy to increase its market presence, particularly against the backdrop of significant growth, having surpassed 200,000 business customers globally. This expansion stretches across various industries, including manufacturing, legal, and healthcare sectors, with notable clients such as Softbank, Mazda, and Panasonic Connect.

Clarify is currently available for DeepL Pro users who require English and German translations, with plans to include more languages. The feature maintains the same security and compliance standards that DeepL Pro users are accustomed to. This innovation underscores DeepL's continuing efforts to break down language barriers for businesses worldwide, enhancing communication and operational efficiency.
