Blue Connections IT supports toy drive for kids
Blue Connections IT has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting vulnerable children and families in Victoria by participating in the 2024 Backpacks 4 VIC Kids holiday toy drive.
This year, the team at Blue Connections IT contributed over 150 packed backpacks and more than 90 pairs of tracksuit pants to the charitable initiative, which seeks to bring joy and essential items to children and young people in need.
The toy drive is part of the "Christmas 4 Kids in Care" programme led by Backpacks 4 VIC Kids, aiming to deliver 7,020 Santa packs to children in various out-of-home care settings across Victoria, such as foster care, kinship care, and residential care. These Santa packs are crafted to provide joy and inspiration through gifts that encourage movement, stillness, and imagination.
During this year's event, Blue Connections IT participants specifically chose gifts for boys aged 12 to 17. This particular demographic often misses out on personalised presents, and the thoughtful gesture included a handwritten message in each backpack, adding a personal touch.
Gordon Brownell, Chief Executive Officer of Blue Connections IT, commented on the company's involvement: "Blue Connections IT's partnership with Backpacks 4 VIC Kids continues to grow and deepen because of the incredible work they do for children and young people who need support the most. This year's holiday toy drive let us focus on age groups that are often overlooked, and I'm incredibly proud of our team for coming together to make such a meaningful contribution. Seeing the generosity and care from everyone involved is truly heartwarming."
Sally Beard, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Backpacks 4 VIC Kids, expressed her gratitude, stating, "It's partnerships with organisations like Blue Connections IT that let us to make a real difference. By encouraging employees to contribute their time and resources, the business not only addresses immediate needs but also helps further the charity's mission to provide dignity and comfort to children facing tough circumstances.
Gordon Brownell reflected on the significance of such initiatives: "What stands out to me is the sense of purpose and compassion that drives our team during these initiatives. It's not just about filling backpacks, it's about creating a moment of joy for a child or young person who might be going through one of the hardest times in their life. That's what makes this partnership so important to us."
