Asendia launches SendNow for Australian SME exporters
Asendia has launched SendNow, an international shipping platform for Australian small and medium-sized eCommerce businesses sending low volumes overseas.
The service targets businesses shipping up to 500 parcels a month. It connects users to Asendia's carrier network and supports deliveries to more than 200 destinations.
SendNow enters a market shaped by a large base of smaller online sellers looking to expand beyond Australia while keeping logistics predictable. Industry estimates cited by Asendia put the number of active SME eCommerce businesses in Australia at more than 100,000. Other research suggests a majority already sell internationally, increasing demand for simpler shipping, tracking and customer service processes.
SME Focus
The platform is a self-service shipping product designed for smaller merchants. It has no minimum shipping volume requirement, a common constraint for businesses that ship sporadically or run seasonal promotions.
SendNow includes label creation, tracking and reporting, and customer support. It also offers transparent pricing and a simplified onboarding process.
For parcel handover, SendNow offers multiple drop-off and collection options through PARCELPOINT. It also uses HUBBED-powered drop-off points, expanding the number of locations where merchants can lodge parcels.
Platform Integrations
SendNow integrates with major eCommerce platforms and marketplaces, including Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shopify and WooCommerce. It can sync order information, label creation and tracking data across connected storefronts in real time.
Customs processes are another part of the product design. The platform automates customs pre-clearance and calculations for duties and taxes, reducing manual entry and steps that often sit outside smaller retailers' order management workflows.
SendNow sits alongside Asendia's broader cross-border delivery operation. The business operates in Europe, the UK, Asia Pacific and the US, employs more than 2,000 people globally, and traces its heritage to La Poste and Swiss Post. It has expanded its services around eCommerce logistics and related tools.
Growth Drivers
Cross-border selling has become more common for Australian online retailers as marketplaces make it easier to list products internationally. At the same time, merchants face higher expectations for delivery visibility and predictable landed costs.
Asendia cited StartupDaily research showing 66% of Australian eCommerce SMEs already sell internationally. It also cited Visa research that 90% of online business leaders view an international presence as essential for growth. Together, the figures point to a market where many smaller businesses have international demand but face challenges managing shipping workflows and customer queries at scale.
Asendia positioned SendNow as a response to these pressures, aimed at merchants that want to start shipping internationally without committing to large volumes.
Lou Milicevic, Managing Director of Asendia Australia, said international expansion is a common ambition among local online sellers and that the platform targets businesses constrained by the structure of existing shipping offers.
"Nearly all Australian eCommerce businesses are keen to reach new international markets. With 66% of online retailer engaging in international sales, many of which are SMEs, we felt a specific solution was missing that allowed them to expand with no minimum volume. SendNow by Asendia has been built from the ground up to remove the complexity and cost barriers that have traditionally held back smaller shippers. We're giving ambitious Australian entrepreneurs the same professional logistics capabilities as much larger retailers," said Lou Milicevic, Managing Director, Asendia Australia.
SendNow is available as a dedicated platform for Australian SME eCommerce businesses, offering global shipping, integrated order and tracking updates, and parcel lodging options across supported drop-off and collection networks.
