Viral vector facility selects SYSPRO Cloud ERP for compliance
Australia's first viral vector design and manufacturing organisation has selected SYSPRO Cloud ERP to support its operations in advancing cell and gene therapies.
The Viral Vector Manufacturing Facility (VVMF), based at the Westmead Health and Innovation Precinct in Sydney, has chosen SYSPRO to deploy its Cloud ERP system to streamline key business functions including analytics, financial management, manufacturing, distribution, quality management, lot traceability, and materials requirements planning.
The facility is the country's first contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) dedicated to viral vector production, an area of increasing importance for therapies targeting cancer and rare diseases.
With operations closely aligned to clinical research and trial work, VVMF is aiming to design, develop and manufacture viral vectors, which act as carriers for genetic material in advanced therapies. This integration into a major health and research precinct is expected to accelerate the transition of these therapies from research to clinical use.
The selection of SYSPRO Cloud ERP comes as VVMF seeks to ensure strict standards of compliance and operational efficiency in a complex regulatory environment. The modules implemented include those focused on manufacturing traceability and quality assurance, in line with requirements set by the Therapeutic Goods Administration and international health authorities.
Daniel Clampett, Chief Operating Officer at VVMF, said, "We selected SYSPRO as a partner to deliver its Cloud ERP system, which is specifically designed for manufacturers and distributors, due to the company's extensive experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry."
"The quality management and lot traceability capabilities of SYSPRO ERP will ensure compliance with stringent regulatory standards set by the Therapeutic Goods Administration and global health authorities."
By integrating accurate lot traceability, VVMF is positioned to track raw materials, components, and finished products throughout each stage of production.
This capability is considered crucial for maintaining product integrity, implementing rapid recalls when necessary, and ensuring patient safety throughout the supply chain.
James Robinson, Head of Services for Asia Pacific at SYSPRO, commented, "For a startup like VVMF, integrating quality management and lot traceability capabilities early not only builds a strong foundation of trust with regulatory bodies but also streamlines operations, reduces risk and supports its scalable growth."
Robinson added, "We are thrilled to partner with Viral Vector Manufacturing Facility to facilitate its transition to commercial-scale manufacturing of high-quality viral vectors. SYSPRO Cloud ERP will act as VVMF's backbone to maintain quality, consistency and data integrity across all its manufacturing processes, which are key pillars for long-term success in the highly regulated biopharmaceutical sector."
VVMF's location within the Westmead Health and Innovation Precinct brings together health services, academia, scientific research, and development organisations, offering opportunities for collaboration to advance patient care.
The facility works with researchers, clinicians and biopharma companies to accelerate the introduction of cell and gene therapies to market.
SYSPRO provides enterprise resource planning solutions to manufacturing and distribution industries globally, with a focus on scalability and regulatory compliance. The company's ERP platform is used by licensed organisations across more than 60 countries, catering to a range of operational and digital transformation needs.
