Similarweb launches SAM, new AI tool to boost sales efficiency

Wed, 8th May 2024

Similarweb has launched a new solution, a data intelligence platform, which is set to make sales teams more efficient and productive. Named SAM (Sales AI Module), this AI-powered tool is designed to bring digital intelligence insights directly into the salesperson's daily workflow.

SAM goes beyond the capabilities of other sales AI co-pilots by fitting seamlessly into existing sales workflows. Here, it can identify high-impact opportunities and see the build-up of trust through data-driven, consultative selling. SAM utilises AI technology similar to ChatGPT, powered by OpenAI GPT-4 algorithms, first introduced by SimilarAsk, the digital assistant launched by Similarweb in 2023.

The AI capabilities of SAM enable salespeople to identify the correct prospects at suitable times and provide targeted messages. Or Offer, CEO of Similarweb, explains, "Rather than expecting every salesperson to become a prompt engineer, SAM proactively inserts data-driven messages into the sales workflow without needing to be prompted. By making the salesperson an expert on the prospect, its industry, and its unique business challenges, we can dramatically improve the odds of closing a deal."

Beyond a simple chatbot or co-pilot, SAM is implemented as a browser extension and uses the regular workflow of sales research as its input. SAM, alongside multiple productivity and research tools, initially LinkedIn and Google Calendar, has plans to integrate with Gmail, SalesLoft, and Outreach later in the year.

Helping sales pitches and meetings with prospects or current customers with insights drawn from Similarweb's unique Digital Data, SAM goes beyond just presenting charts and graphs. It uses AI text generation to suggest sales messages that will likely resonate with the potential customer. These messages can then be incorporated into pitch emails, used to prepare for meetings, or leveraged to advise existing customers on opportunities to enhance their digital profiles.

The impact of Similarweb solutions is already being felt in the business world. Michiel Greeven, EVP of Global Commercial at DHL Express, a part of the SAM trial, states, "Through our design partnership with the Similarweb team, we've optimised our sales approach by leveraging data and insights, reinforcing our role as a trusted advisor for our customers. SAM will represent the next exciting chapter in our collaboration, empowering our teams to deliver even greater value to our customers and business."

Daniel Dixon, VP of Sales at eCommerce platform provider Visualsoft, asserts, "Using Similarweb has allowed our sales teams to book more meetings and close more deals, using accurate data and insights, which ultimately result in an unbiased consultative selling approach. By leveraging Similarweb's insights, we've helped them increase revenue and fostered lasting loyalty. With SAM, we will empower our sales team to deliver even greater value and further strengthen these vital customer relationships."
