Oracle introduces new AI tools to boost global supply chains

Today

Oracle has introduced new trade management features within its Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM) solution to assist organisations in managing the challenges posed by global import tariffs and trade agreements.

The updates to Oracle Fusion Cloud Global Trade Management are designed to enable customers to automate processes across global supply chains, increase visibility over shipment orders, and support improved decision-making related to supply chains.

Oracle stated that these enhancements aim to address the increasing complexity faced by businesses due to shifting international tariffs and trade regulations. The updates are now available for customers implementing Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM.

Chris Leone, Executive Vice President of Applications Development at Oracle, said, "Supply chain leaders are rising to the moment by seeking new ways to manage their business with global trade agreements and international tariffs in a state of flux. To help our customers with this complexity, we have added new capabilities within Oracle Global Trade Management that enable supply chain leaders to quickly respond to changes and minimise disruption to their global supply chains."

Oracle Fusion Cloud Global Trade Management provides organisations with a centralised platform for managing their cross-border trade activities. The solution offers greater visibility and control across orders and shipments and helps businesses reduce their exposure to tariffs and adjust efficiently to ongoing changes in trade rules.

The new capabilities released include an AI-powered product classification tool, which allows logistics managers to classify new and modified products quickly and accurately by leveraging machine learning. This tool utilises tariff schedules, export control lists, and munitions lists to improve the accuracy and speed of product classification.

Another addition is support for United States foreign trade zones. This feature is designed to assist logistics managers in deferring or reducing duties and tariff liabilities on US imports. It manages foreign trade zone status, audits inventory levels, and generates necessary reports related to trade zones.

The solution now also provides functionalities for trade incentive programme processing relief, enabling logistics managers to track goods and duties from import to export. This helps organisations make more effective use of duty drawback programmes and mitigate the impact of tariffs on their supply chains.

In addition, new trade incentive programme reporting features have been introduced. These allow managers to rapidly generate the documentation needed to prepare and file drawback claims with customs authorities, potentially reducing costs associated with international trade.

Oracle Cloud SCM, which is part of the wider Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite, allows organisations to connect their supply chain operations and respond swiftly to changing market and supply conditions. The platform's embedded artificial intelligence provides analytical support, content generation, and automation capabilities intended to enhance supply chain performance and increase network resilience amid evolving global trade conditions.

The latest release comes as businesses continue to navigate ongoing fluctuations in international trade rules and tariffs. Oracle's enhancements are developed to support companies aiming to maintain efficient operations while minimising costs and disruption.
