Airbnb launches Co-Host Network to simplify management
Airbnb has unveiled its Co-Host Network feature aimed at simplifying property management for homeowners who use the platform.
The Co-Host Network enables local experts to manage Airbnb properties, offering homeowners an easier way to generate extra income without the hassles of day-to-day management responsibilities. These local co-hosts, many of whom are highly rated by the Airbnb community, provide personalised support by managing listings, bookings, and guest communications.
Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO, stated, "With the Co-Host Network, we're taking the work out of hosting. Starting today, you provide the home and we'll provide an exceptional co-host." According to Airbnb's data, 73% of co-hosts are Superhosts, and 84% help manage homes that are favourites among guests.
In addition to the Co-Host Network, Airbnb has introduced over 50 guest-centric upgrades. These features aim to personalise the Airbnb app, with improvements made to searches and recommendations based on users' past trips and search history. The app now includes a welcome tour for first-time users, suggested destinations, search tips, recommended filters, and personalised listing highlights.
Emphasising the shift in service personalisation, Chesky commented, "For decades, travel apps have been one-size-fits-all. We're changing that today. With dozens of new features, this is the beginning of a more personalised Airbnb."
Features like price tips, quick replies with customisable templates, and an earnings dashboard have been developed for hosts. These tools aim to simplify various aspects of the hosting experience and provide insights into potential earnings.
The Co-Host Network is available in 10 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, UK, and US. These updates for guests and hosts are expected to make Airbnb an even more user-friendly platform globally.
As part of its October 2024 release, Airbnb has shared insights into upcoming travel trends among Australian guests. Coastal getaways, city stays, and wine region tourism are particularly popular, with domestic destinations like Jervis Bay and Yarraville featuring prominently in search data. Internationally, spots such as Joinville in Brazil and Tokyo in Japan continue to attract attention from Australian travellers.
The data suggests that Australian travellers are showing interest in diverse locations, seeking experiences from bustling urban settings to tranquil natural landscapes. The new range of services and personalisation options aim to cater to this variety of interests, providing options that appeal to different travellers and their needs.
Globally, Australians are looking for memorable travel experiences, scanning destinations that range from the cultural landscapes of Japan to the warm beaches of Brazil. This variety reflects Airbnb's capacity to offer diverse options that suit different travel desires, from beach holidays to explorations of foreign cities.
According to Airbnb's data, group travel remains prevalent among Australian users, with an average party size of four guests. This pattern echoes the general trend towards family and group holidays, with amenities such as pools, WiFi, and kitchens featuring highly in guest searches.
