Adobe Acrobat Sign achieves IRAP certification in Australia
Adobe has announced that Adobe Acrobat Sign has successfully completed the Infosec Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment at the PROTECTED level, reinforcing the platform's alignment with Australia's stringent cybersecurity requirements for public sector digital services.
This certification follows the March 2024 IRAP PROTECTED assessment of Adobe Experience Manager Gov Cloud Australia (AEM Gov AU), furthering Adobe's efforts to provide secure and compliant digital tools for Australian government agencies.
"Adobe Acrobat Sign's IRAP certification underscores its ability to support government agencies in delivering secure, transparent, and efficient digital experiences," Adobe said in a company statement.
The IRAP is a programme developed by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) to assess the security posture of ICT systems against the Australian Government's Information Security Manual (ISM).
The ISM is designed to help organisations protect their information and systems from cyber threats and is particularly relevant for agencies handling classified data.
Adobe Acrobat Sign was assessed against classification level controls outlined in the ISM. The PROTECTED level signifies the product's suitability for use by federal, state, and local Australian government entities.
This provides assurance that Adobe Acrobat Sign can support agencies in their digital transitions while maintaining compliance with regulatory security standards.
"This recognition allows Australian government agencies to seamlessly adopt Adobe Acrobat Sign, facilitating their transition to digital workflows while meeting regulatory security standards.
Equally, it ensures our customers can use Adobe Acrobat Sign when working with government agencies," the company stated.
The certification also aligns with Adobe's broader strategy of enabling secure digital experiences. "Through this IRAP assessment, Adobe has made it easier for Australian government agencies to provide enhanced yet trusted digital citizen experiences, maintaining the highest security standards for handling classified information," the statement said.
Adobe noted that demand for secure digital interactions has continued to increase.
Recent research by the company shows a link between the availability of secure, accessible and efficient digital services and higher levels of public usage.
"In recognition of the demand for more secure, efficient, and compliant digital document solutions, Adobe Acrobat Sign completed the Infosec Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment at the PROTECTED level on March 2025," the company confirmed.
The platform enables a wide range of digital document management capabilities including identity management, authentication, document integrity verification, and the maintenance of detailed audit trails.
It also supports remote digital signatures through integration with trust service providers (TSPs) and the Cloud Signature Consortium (CSC).
"Adobe Acrobat Sign enables end-to-end digital experiences across all types of signing workflows," the company said.
"As a robust cloud-based solution, it helps agencies securely handle large volumes of online signature processes, including identity management, authentication and access control for users, document integrity certification, e-signature verification, and maintenance of recipient acceptance and audit trails."
The IRAP PROTECTED-level assessment is part of Adobe's ongoing efforts to meet international and national security compliance standards.
Central to these efforts is Adobe's Common Controls Framework (CCF), which unifies security and compliance requirements across its cloud operations.
"At Adobe, the Common Controls Framework (CCF) is at the core of our security and compliance approach," the company said.
"This comprehensive framework streamlines security requirements, ensuring our cloud products, services, and operations adhere to globally recognised standards, including SOC2, ISO/IEC 27001:2013, ISO 22301:2019, PCI DSS, FedRAMP and many more."
Adobe said that by aligning with frameworks like IRAP, it offers flexibility and assurance to organisations navigating the demands of digital transformation.
"The IRAP framework empowers Adobe's customers with the freedom to choose the best solutions tailored to their unique business needs, helping to ensure flexibility, security, and compliance in their digital journey," the company added.
